Sydnie Bayles, second from left, accepts a check for $1,021 from Melissa Baxter (left) Matt Holladay, Bill Friedmann and Arlene Adam, members of the Rotary Club of West Chester, towards her goal of raising funds for Alex’s Lemonade Stand. To date, Sydnie has raised over $230,000 for the charity, mainly through the lemonade stand she sets up at every summer concert in Eagleview. She helped her parents with the lemonade stand at age two, and by the time she was seven, she was running the stand herself. Now in her teens, she not only continues to raise funds, she also teaches others how to run a stand, and does speaking engagements to raise awareness of the need for research into pediatric cancer. Her goal for this summer was to bring her total of funds for the charity to $250,000. The Rotary Club held a pulled pork showdown recently, and donated the proceeds toward Sydnie's goal. The contest was won by Arlene Adam, with Baxter as runner-up. Matt Holliday is current club president, Friedmann is immediate past president. Sydnie’ s father, Steve, is also a member of the West Chester club.  The charity was started by Alexandra (Alex) Scott, who was diagnosed with neuroblastoma before her first birthday, and passed away at age eight.
