Rotarian of the year

Ronayne Named Rotarian Of The Year

August 21, 2009 - Bill Ronayne (right), owner of Brandywine Valley Heating and Air Conditioning, was recently named Rotarian of the Year by the Rotary Club of West Chester and presented a plaque by the outgoing club President Steve Karp. Although the club has long recognized outstanding Rotarians each month, President Karp instituted the annual honor this year. Ronayne has agreed to chair the club’s annual Chili Cook-off for a second year, the club’s largest fundraising event, which typically raises over $35,000 in funds for the club’s charitable causes. Ronayne is also board president of the West Chester Area Senior Center and president-elect of the West Chester Rotary Club.

Alan has assisted Barclay Friends, The ARC, YMCA and other community organizations with capital campaign fund raising, is active in the West Chester Chamber of Commerce and Lions Club, volunteers in numerous capacities with the Chester County Hospital and serves on advisory boards of the Salvation Army and West Chester Area Senior. President's Gala & Auction

At a festive Presidential Gala at the West Chester Golf and Country Club, Steve Karp was inducted as the new club president, along with his board of directors. Outgoing president, Gary Hess, was given a standing ovation for a job well done. Under the leadership of Past President Sue Casso Rogers and her committee, the gala was festive with flowers and candles and a silent auction table filled with goodies to suit everyones desires. Past President Annalie Korengel Lorgus gave an inspiring invocation, and at the end of the festivities, passed on the past presidents pin to Gary. Bob Frame started off the festivities after dinner with a lively auction that netted 5 lucky winners shore vacation accommodations and sumptuous dinners. Dr. Bob Poole, handsome in his tux, inducted the new president and his board in his usual dignified and thoughtful manner, engaging the 90 plus members and guests in the ceremony with humorous references to childrens rhymes. Following Steves outline of plans for the year ahead, State Senator Andy Dinniman presented both Steve and Gary with copies of Senate resolutions commending them for their outstanding work in Rotary. An inspiring and fun-filled evening was enjoyed by all!
