This is our primary customer. Note that she is carrying about 60 pounds of water in the larger can and probably another 8 pounds in the smaller container. She will be much better off when we are finished.
This is the road from the collection tanks toward the distribution points (we call them "water points"). You can see the partially filled trench on the left side of the road. They fill the trench except where the pipe joints are, so the pipeline can be inspected for leaks.
This is the trench where the galvanized iron pipe runs. This is a very rocky area and it is difficult to dig. The local folks have dug these trenches themselves and that is part of their contribution to the project. They had broken several sledge hammers on the bigger rocks which were in the way of the digging ("trenching").
This is the water flow from one of the hillside sources. This is piped into the collection tanks and piped downhill toward the water points. When we were there, they had been using this water to soften the soil before they dug the trenches.
This is the primary collection tank at the source of the water. It is now finished, backfilled and has a cover. All of the galvanized iron pipe is in which connects this to the secondary tank and the PVC pipe distribution system to the water points. Photographs courtesy of Rotarian - Charles Lyddane.
