What is a Community Philanthropic Grant?

Community Philanthropic Grants provide limited financial support ($500 - $5,000) for worthy, non-profit organizations in the Greater West Chester Community. Applications are evaluated by the Community Philanthropic Committee (CPC) for consistency with the mission of Rotary International, the stated priorities of The Rotary Club of West Chester officers and membership, and the approved club budget. Applications, which are approved by the committee, are then submitted to the Board for final approval prior to disbursement of funds.

Applications must be received by November 15, 2010.

Who can apply?

Any member in good standing of The Rotary Club of West Chester may submit an application on behalf of a qualified, non-profit organization. Qualified non-profit organizations may also apply directly.

What are the requirements of a Community Philanthropic Grant?

The grant recipient must be an IRS recognized, non-profit organization providing humanitarian services in the Greater West Chester Community. Recipients are expected to:

  • Treat grant funds as a sacred trust to be spent as described in the application
  • Maintain clear and accurate accounting
  • Return any grant funds that are not spent within one year of award to The Rotary Club of West Chester with a detailed explanation of why they were not spent.
